Short Film selected for 2023 First Cut! Youth Film Festival

A film created by students at Colaiste an Chroi Naofa in collaboration the Glucksman will be screened at the Festival in March

In Spring 2021, Colaiste an Chroi Naofa took part in the Art Library initiative from The Glucksman. Artist Fiona Kelly's print Portable Fairy Tree was loaned to the school and students were invited to creatively respond to the artwork and its themes. 2nd year students explored environmental issues and looked at the history and heritage of their local area. The students were interested in how connected we are to nature and its importance on our well-being. An old poem by local poet Torna describes his love for the area and his connection to nature. This poem frames the short film which was made by the students under the guidance of filmmaker Dervla Baker

Torna been selected for screening at the 2023 First Cut! Youth Film Festival. The film will screen at The Mall Arts Centre in Youghal, Co.Cork on the morning of Thursday March 9th as part of the Schools & Youth Groups programme. The full First Cut! programme will be announced shortly.
