A loan collection of artworks that is available to schools, community hubs and healthcare settings across Ireland.
The Art Library is an innovative approach to sharing art and knowledge driven by the principles of creativity, inclusion and participation.
Whether a child in a rural classroom, a resident in a nursing home, or a family living in supported accommodation - for many people, access to artworks presented in museums and galleries may seem beyond their reach. Through The Art Library, communities will have the opportunity to encounter original works of art and access inspiring educational materials that combined enable them to engage with the relevant issues of our time with, and through, art.
To achieve this, the Glucksman has developed a loan collection that allows for the considered exploration of contemporary research themes and societal issues. In 2021, these stimulating works of art were made available to schools, community spaces and healthcare settings across the country. As well as co-ordinating these local presentations, the Glucksman provides online activities and educational resources that support creative learning and idea generation, providing art viewers with an opportunity to actively engage with contemporary art.
The Art Library is supported by a Touring Award from the Arts Council of Ireland touring award and a Regional Museum Exhibition Scheme grant from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
