A Creative Course for Older People

Back to the Drawing Board is a 6-week course that will provide an introduction to drawing techniques with a focus on still-life.  Participants will follow along step-step, starting with the basics of setting up still-life compositions and lighting, before looking at space, line, colour, light and shade, and texture. The course will offer an insight into different drawing materials and will invite participants to try their hand at charcoal, pastels, and graphite. The course is suitable for beginners or those with previous experience who would like to develop their skills.

The course will take inspiration from current exhibition A Line Around An Idea: ways of knowing through contemporary drawing practices and will be set in our designated drawing studio in the large Sisk Gallery.

The Glucksman is delighted to be one of seven national cultural organisations to be part of the first Charter for the greater participation of older people in the arts.
