Memory of Place
Artist Deirdre Frost creates new paintings in collaboration with members of Cork City Partnership, Knocknaheeny.
This Spring, the Glucksman partnered with Cork City Partnership, Knocknaheeny to invite older members of the community to take part in a creative project with artist Deirdre Frost. The project was designed to facilitate the artist to create new artworks in response to the ideas, stories and memories of the community. Together, artist and community explored their relationship to Cork city, and the changes that have occurred during their lifetime with a particular focus on the built environment. Through a series of creative consultations both at the Glucksman and in the community, the group shared stories, photographs and artifacts with the artist. The sessions also included talks, tours, and creative activities with curators and academics where participants learned about the history, architecture and art of the city.
As part of the Bealtaine Festival, Deirdre Frost’s Memory of Place paintings will be unveiled to the public at the Glucksman from 17 May to 29 May 2022.
