Roots & Reflections
Young creators explore nature
Roots & Reflections is an exhibition featuring artworks by over 900 primary and post-primary students who visited the Glucksman in spring and creatively responded to the beauty and wonder of our natural world.
Taking inspiration from nature-themed artworks by Irish contemporary artists as well as the University College Cork campus, where 451 species of flora and fauna have been recorded, students were invited to observe, experience and respond to their environment. After connecting with the natural world through a walk in the lower grounds, students headed back to the workshop to transform their observations into works of art. In line with the Glucksman’s green guidelines and approach to sustainable practices in our education programme, students worked with recycled and low waste materials to create their own original works of art.
From 13 to 16 March 2025, these artworks will be on display in Gallery 1 at the Glucksman.
