Film-Poem
The Key Was Always In The Door was a community-led artist project that was presented as part of the 2019 Bealtaine Festival.
In partnership with the Glucksman, artist Collette Nolan and poet Gerry Murphy were commissioned by Age and Opportunity to create a new film poem for the Bealtaine Festival. Guided by curator Tadhg Crowley and collaborating closely with members of the Ballyphehane/Togher Community Development Project the artists created a film that explores ideas of hospitality, home and the practice of hosting.
The community generated the content of the work in tandem with the artists through collaborative workshops hosted by the Glucksman. These workshops included sessions on writing, storytelling, singing, dancing, painting, film and photography. A number of the group worked with artist Ciara Rodgers to create their own painted responses to the material, stories and memories that came to the fore in the workshops.
Film-Poem is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland
