Over the past 13 years in a variety of different exhibition contexts, the Glucksman has been privileged to show a number of ambitious installation works by Irish artists. Some of these artists were already represented in the UCC Art Collection, others have had their contribution to the gallery’s exhibition programme recognised in the acquisition of artwork for display across the university campus.

Double Take re-examines these innovative moments within the Glucksman’s exhibition history, revisiting the installations in a new context and alongside works by the artists held in the UCC Art Collection. From site-specific responses to the architecture such as Brian O’Doherty’s wall drawing Tatlin Squared and Garrett Phelan’s At what point will common sense prevail to largescale installations created for the gallery by Sonia Shiel and the Project Twins, Double Take offers the viewer a fascinating perspective on the way in which artworks endure in collections, exhibition memory and remake meaning in new contexts and displays.
