Reading Group: Labour of Love
Learn more about the artists and artworks on display at the Glucksman with our monthly Reading Group led by Curator of Exhibitions + Projects Katie O'Grady.
Taking texts and essays across theory, fiction, biography and poetry we invite you to learn more and discuss selected artworks from our current exhibitions Labour of Love: Economies of Care in Contemporary Art and Condition Check: Health & Wellbeing in the UCC Art Collection.
Over an hour, you will be invited to read a text aloud* together and discuss its themes, ideas, and context concerning select artworks. This month, we will be looking at the work of Viola Fátyol through a selected text from The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson.
The Argonauts is a book that sits between memoir, philosophy, criticism and poetry and queries how families come to be and care for one another - emphasising a nuanced understanding of identity, caretaking, family and love.
You do not need to prepare anything in advance and no specialist knowledge is required.
Admission Free / Suggested donation €5
Saturday, 31 May, 10 - 11 am.
*You will be able to choose whether to read aloud or just listen
