In her Bandaged Heart series, Cecily Brennan explores the ways in which our bodies mend and heal, depicting limbs and organs held together in corrective care by staples, bandages and skin grafts. In stainless steel, her sculptures recall the clinical materiality of medical instruments, but the artist shapes them into something of a personal armoury, a coping arsenal of artefacts that might protect and solidify our fragile bodies.
