Little Interview

Every month we ask the same set of cultural questions to one of our artistic, academic or civic collaborators.

Over the last number of years, we have interviewed diverse members of the Glucksman community - artists, academics, staff members, guests, audiences and workshop participants. The responses are funny, inspiring, revealing and always a great read.

This month, we hear from Eleanor McCaughey, one of the artists featured in our new exhibition Panorama Europa!

What are you reading?
I've just finished Virginia Woolfe's 'A Room of One's Own' and I am currently reading reading 'All that Glitters' by Orlando Whitfield. A true story about when Whitfield meets Inigo Philbrick as they both navigate the contemporary art world.

Favourite museum?
This is a tie between the Uffizi in Florence or the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Best performance?
Joanna Newsom when she played at All Tomorrow's Parties in 2007.

Most treasured possession? My most treasured possession is my grandmother's cabinet .

Work(s) of art that inspire you? Music inspires me more than visual art; it's a visceral experience. But If I see a painting with an interesting colour palette and brush work that can inspire me.

A lightbulb moment?
When I saw a Benedict Drew exhibition at the Walker Gallery in Liverpool and realized I needed to expand my practice outside of painting.

Guilty pleasure? Reality television.

What would you like to be doing right now? I have taken up ceramics this year again and I'm addicted to clay so I'd probably like to be sculpting with clay right now.
