Discover contemporary approaches to artmaking with professional artists in our new series of Saturday masterclasses. This season we invite you to explore creative techniques in drawing, printmaking and photography. Booking essential to secure your place.

Drawing with Cassandra Eustace

10am - 1pm, Saturday 16 February

The act of drawing makes light become visible and in this masterclass with artist Cassandra Eustace, participants will be invited to observe light and how it defines what we see. Cassandra regularly teaches and gives talks on the power of drawing as a tool to unlock the imagination. You will learn and put into practice a range of drawing techniques under the guidance of the artist and taking inspiration from the artworks in  Prism, you will track the ways in which the light interacts and illuminates the gallery spaces.

Materials will be provided and the masterclass is suitable for all abilities

Screen Printing with Deirdre Breen

10am - 1pm, Saturday 23 February

This masterclass with designer and printmaker Deirdre Breen will provide participants with guided hands-on practice in the process of screen print making. You will learn and have time to practice the processes of coating, exposing, printing and editioning your own artwork. The session will focus on shape interaction and colour combinations and participants will be invited to respond to artworks in PrismDeirdre Breen is a Cork based artist who makes screen prints characterised by flat abstract motifs and geometric compositions. Her work explores the interplay between solid and space through studies in colour and form.

No experience is required and all materials are provided.

Street Photography with Brendan O'Sé

10am - 1pm, Saturday 2 March

Brendan Ó Sé is a mobile photographer who has won multiple awards including iPhone Photographer of the Year (2017) and Mojofest Photographer of the Year (2018). Brendan utilises over 20 years of teaching experience to help learners to maximise their learning potential with his passion for photography. This results in a dynamic, engaging and learning-centred experience for the participants, allowing them to immediately put into practice the tips and techniques that Brendan covers in his workshops. This masterclass will include a creative walk where participants will have the opportunity to explore ideas of light and colour that can be found in Prism.
