Perspectives: Richard Forrest
Join artist Richard Forrest for a lunchtime discussion of his work on display in Please Touch.
What does an artwork feel like? How do we experience a sculpture
when we use our sense of touch as well as sight? What happens when
we evoke other senses to encounter a work of visual art?
Perspectives features artists from the current exhibition Please Touch
addressing the ways in which tactility informs and affects the relation-
ship to art. From the specific, touchable works on display in the Glucksman to their use of disparate materials and media in their
own practices, these talks invite you to look beyond the visual in the
perception of art.
The image above is entitled also and is made by the Cork-based artist Maud Cotter. Made from resin and card, visitors are invited to feel the surface qualities of the sculpture.
