Heritage Week: Experiencing art through touch

Explore the UCC Art Collection through a touch exhibition this Heritage Week.

This exhibition is designed to be touched. The artworks presented form part of the UCC Art Collection and for National Heritage Week, we invite you to explore their surfaces and shapes with your hands.

The making of a sculpture itself is a manual act; the artists form, mould or carve material with their hands. This touch exhibition features Bull by John Behan, Luna by Patrick Campbell, Seekers of Knowledge by Annette Hennessy, Our Union Only in Truth by Garrett Phelan and a wooden bowl by Liam O’Neill.

The University College Cork art collection focuses on modern and contemporary Irish art. These works are sited throughout the campus to provide the UCC community and visitors with a first-hand encounter with original works of art.

The Glucksman provides professional care and development for the University College Cork Art Collection and has achieved full accreditation on the Heritage Council’s Museum Standards Programme for Ireland. The awards recognise high standards in the management of the museum, care of collections and visitor services.
