WOMEN'S RIGHTS

Dara McGrath's photographs are exhibiting at Ballyphehane/Togher Community Development Project, Ballyphehane

Dara McGrath’s Hidden Histories portraits were created in collaboration with older people from Mahon Community Development Project. Through a series of workshops and interviews at the Glucksman, the artist explored the progression of women’s rights since 1918 and the role of women in shaping Cork city. The photographic portraits celebrate the storyteller as well as the story being told and were originally presented alongside a documentary film as part of the 2018 Bealtaine Festival.

Broadcast historian Dr Finola Doyle O’Neill takes us through the 20th century to the pivotal moments of change. From the right to vote, to the first constitution, the many backward steps, the role of the EU and now to 2020 and to the change that still needs to come.
