Colin Crotty's paintings are on display at Hollyhill Library.
In 2019, Colin Crotty was commissioned by the Glucksman to create a new series of paintings that explored the significant role Community Health Nurses play in their communities. Following a series of creative consultations and site visits, the artist created three paintings that examine the main areas of work for this group of HSE Community Health Nurses. The artworks capture the support and care offered to mothers and babies, elderly people and new communities.
While Colin’s paintings give us a view of health care in 2020, historian and writer Cllr. Kieran McCarthy takes us back to the start of the 20th century to a very different city. As Ireland gained independence, Cork began to consider how it could care for its growing number of citizens.
