In Detail is a series of public conversations focusing on a single work from the current exhibition. Inviting specialists and experts from different backgrounds and pairing them with a Glucksman curator, these sessions provide an opportunity to focus on a single work from an unusual perspective. This series will be accompanying the exhibitions Mixtapes: Popular Music in Contemporary Art and From The Sources.

Sean Enda Power on Dennis McNulty Tuesday, 27 July, 1pm
This session of In Detail invites Sean Enda Power to discuss notions of time, memory and illusion in Dennis McNulty’s Mixtapes installation We Built This City (Don’t You Remember?). Sean Enda Power is an IRCHSS Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Philosophy and Social Science, University College Cork. He studied for his PhD at University of Leeds on the experience of time and his latest paper can be found in the April issue of The Journal of Consciousness Studies.

Crónán Ó Doiblin on Dan Graham Tuesday, 24 August, 1pm
This talk by Crónán Ó Doibhlin will explore ideas of collective ritual in punk rock and heavy metal in relation to Dan Graham’s seminal video essay Rock My Religion. Crónán Ó Doibhlin is Head of Special Collections, Archives and Repository Services at the Boole Library, University College Cork.

James Cronin on From the Sources Tuesday, 21 September, 1pm
Addressing the audio-visual art environment From the Sources by Mel Mercier, James Cronin will explore notions of sound, silence, improvisation and installation. James Cronin is Visual Resources Officer for History of Art and Course Co-ordinator for the Diploma in European Art History, Centre for Adult and Continuing Education (ACE), University College Cork.

Kerstin Fest on Linder Tuesday, 12 October, 1pm
In this talk, Dr. Kerstin Fest will look at issues of gender and feminism in relation to collages, photographs and album covers by the artist and musician Linder. Kerstin Fest is DAAD-Lektorin in the Department of German, University College Cork with research interests in literature, drama, women’s studies, gender and cultural theory.
