Join artist Ciara Rodgers for an introduction to drawing techniques in this 6 week course that takes its inspiration from the UCC Art Collection. The course provides an insight into different drawing materials and will invite participants to try their hand at charcoal, pastels, graphite and ink.
Using artworks within the current exhibition Moving Spaces: Learning through the UCC art collection, we’ll look at space, line, colour, light and shade, and texture. The course is suitable for beginners or those with previous experience who would like to develop their skills.

Saturday Masterclass: Drawing + Movement

Join us for a masterclass with artist Inma Pavon to discover drawing through movement.
This masterclass invites participants to discover the rhythms and movement in artworks as a way to better understand artistic styles and practices. Through a series of innovative activities we will explore and challenge our understanding of artworks in the current exhibition Moving Spaces: Learning through the UCC art collection. Under the guidance of artist Inma Pavon, participants will adopt unique methods of interacting with artworks through movement before using these methods to create their own large scale drawings using charcoal, graphite and ink.
Inma Pavon is a contemporary artist who has trained in ballet, contemporary dance and physical education. She has performed and collaborated with artists Amanda Coogan, Danny McCarthy and John Godfrey, as part of events including Cork Midsummer Festival, Quarter Block Party and with groups such as Headway, Arts for Health and The Circus Factory. Inma has taught contemporary dance at the University of Limerick, Cork School of Dance, Cork Youth Ballet Company and Centro de Danza de Torremolinos, Malaga.
