University College Cork has established a reputation as a major patron of contemporary art in Ireland. The University Art Collection concentrates on contemporary Irish art and now features many of Ireland’s most distinguished practitioners. In addition to collecting significant works, UCC aims to support emerging artists in the region through the acquisition of new works for the collection and it sponsors an annual purchase prize at the Crawford College of Art degree show. UCC has received a number of generous donations to its art collection. These artworks increase the value of the Modern Art Collection not only in financial terms, but also as a teaching and research resource for current and future scholars. The majority of artworks acquired and donated up until 1998 are documented in the Modern Art Collection catalogue. This publication is for sale in the Glucksman shop.
