The GLUCKSMAN Little Interview

Every month we ask the same set of questions to someone collaborating with us. Over the last two years, we have interviewed diverse members of the Glucksman community - artists, academics, staff members, guests, audiences and workshop participants. The responses were funny, inspiring, revealing and always a great read. The archive of 2015's interviews can be found here and the 2016 archive is here. Thanks to all who took part!

This month, our Little Interview features the artist Andreas Kindler Von Knobloch
whose work features in the current Now Wakes the Sea exhibition.

Andreas Kindler Von Knobloch: October 2017

What are you reading?
At the moment I am reading an e-flux journal published by Sternberg Press called The Internet Does Not Exist. It is a compilation of different short writings about networks, the future and other things.

Favourite museum?
That’s a good question, I often think more about the exhibitions on display than the institutions themselves, but I guess one of my favourite museums would be the museum of Natural History in Dublin. Someone once said to me that this museum was so old it was often studied by people who were researching museums. I like that.

Best performance?
Each good new performance I see takes over and becomes the best for a time. Most recently I enjoyed a play called Shitstorm at the Peacock theater in Dublin.

What is your most treasured possession?
I treasure most of my possessions but the one that has been with me the longest is my bicycle.

What work(s) of art inspire you?
Works that show an awareness of their role in the world and that hold a moment of the artists enjoyment in their creation.

A lightbulb moment?
Realizing that it is not place but people that matter most.

Guilty pleasure?
Going to the cinema on my own to watch fantasy or sci-fi blockbuster movies.

What would you like to be doing right now?
Sailing with a light breeze on a calm sea.
